III.RECRUITMENT INITIATIVES

Type of Recruitment Initiative (Menu Selection)

Brief Description of Activity

1.

Participated in Scholarship Program

(Initiative Number 7)

Our stations participated throughout the reporting period in a scholarship program offered by the Louisiana Association of Broadcasters which helps students pursue broadcasting careers. We aired many local spots promoting it on both KVPI(AM) and KVPI(FM) to make area students aware of these scholarships and the local availability of scholarship applications at our studios. We distributed a number of the applications to local students who wanted to apply.

3.

Established Training Program

(Initiative Number 8)

Our part-time staff benefited from an ongoing training program which we offered to them which provided educational opportunities to learn new broadcasting career skills and update existing ones which could qualify them for higher level positions. Among the skills taught to them during the reporting period were voice tracking and production work. Some of our part-time staff also learned to do remote broadcasts.

4.

Participated in Event with Educational Institution (Initiative Number 10)

Mallory Moser of our staff participated on

October 10, 2019 in the Evangeline Parish School Board’s Career Day for area high school juniors and seniors. Mallory  produced a live remote broadcast from 8:00 - 11:30 a.m. She also staffed a booth where she met with interested students about the stations and their part-time and full-time broadcast job opportunities, and she gave them employment applications to complete and return to the stations.

5.

Participated in Activity to Disseminate

Information About Careers in

Broadcasting

Interest in radio broadcasting and future broadcast-related employment opportunities was created during a tour of our studios conducted by station employees on

(Initiative Number 16)

December 12, 2019 for youth from Camey’s Pre-School Academy.
