2021 Evangeline Parish Students of the Year

In an interview with Interim Elementary Supervisor Cherie Fontenot recorded today at KVPI Studios, the names of this year’s students of the year at each parish school were announced along with those who were honored at the District level.
Here are the school winners for Students of the Year: Landon Papillion for Firth Grade and Josie McDaniel for the 8th grade; James Stephens Montessori-Estella Thomas, 5th Grade winner; Ville Platte Elementary -Alexis Keirra Dunn, 5th Grade Winner; Vidrine Elementary- Rylee Guillory, 5th grade winner, Julie Mable 8th grade winner; Bayou Chicot Elementary- Cain Davis, 5th Grade Winner and Evelyn Grace Holsomback,8th Grade Winner; Ville Platte High Prisha Makey, 8th Grade Winner and Jade Alfred, 12th Grade Winner; Mamou High School -Collin Aguillard, 5th Grade Winner, Jaidan Richard, 8th Grade Winner and Desataya Tezeno, 12th Grade Winner; Pine Prairie High- Kamryn West, 12th Grade Winner; Basile High School- Abigail Butts, 5th Grade Winner, Jackson Courville 8th Grade Winner and Jose Palacios 12th Grade Winner. In the Work Based Learning program- Justin Gulley, 11th Grade student at Mamou High; JAG Program at Ville Platte High-Branson Fontenot and the JAG Program at Bayou Chicot Elementary-Gage Ardoin.
The District Wide Winners are: 5th Grade- Landon Papillion from Chataignier Elementary; 8th Grade -Jackson Courville from Basile High School and 12th Grade winner is Kamryn West from Pine Prairie High School. These three winners will advance and compete at the regional level.
Students must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.1 on a 4.0 scale. The student must be in good standing in matters of discipline and attendance. The student should be on that demonstrates leadership and citizenship. The student should be able to speak and write well. They will be interviewed and will be asked to compose and submit an autobiographical sketch.
