According to Ville Platte Police Chief, Neal Lartigue,

On July 18, 2017, Officers with the Ville Platte Police Department responded to a report of counterfeit money at a local business on East Main Street.  Upon arrival Officers learned that a black male had given the cashier a counterfeit fifty dollar bill to make his purchase.  Detectives were called to scene and began their investigation.

Arrested was Kondwani Malveaux, age 23 of 611 East Beauregard Street, Ville Platte.  Malveaux was charged with monetary instrument abuse.  Malveaux was booked into the Ville Platte City Jail on a $25,000.00 bond set by Judge Gary Ortego.

Chief Neal Lartigue reminds business owners to pay close attention when accepting money for purchases.  Counterfeit money is circulating and paying close attention could prevent you from being a victim and also help catch those responsible as they try to use this counterfeit currency.
